Intravenous administration of just one 1000mL normal saline bag is equivalent to drinking over 2 gallons of prepared water without the debilitating effects of orally consuming that much liquid to begin with.
The ingredients of the AFP drip include: 
- Vitamins: Vitamin C, base B-Complex vitamins and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12)
- Electrolyte mix: Restore body’s electrolyte balance broken due to excessive vomiting or diarrhea that is common in food poisoning cases
- Zofran: Zofran prevents nausea and vomiting, allowing patients to keep fluids down.
- Saline Solution: All ingredients for the of the AFP cocktail are combined in an IV bag of apyrogenic normal saline.
